 Building on a Strong Past to Influence the Future
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has over 132 patient and family advisors, serving on 12 advisory councils and 33 committees across the system. Using that experience, UAMS is now working with outpatient specialty providers to help strengthen patient and family engagement (PFE), through a variety of mechanisms, including shared decision-making.

Hospital Compare
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently updated its 
Hospital Compare website to provide information on hospital return days (number of days a patient spends back in a hospital after getting discharged). A new video provides information on hospital return days, and why this is important for patients and families to know about!

PCPCC SAN ‘Primary Care Innovations’ Conference Scholarships
The Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative (PCPCC) is offering registration scholarships to advisors or staff from TCPI practices to attend its Annual Conference, Primary Care Innovations: Putting Shared Principles into Practice, being held in Washington, DC on October 11-12, 2017.

Annette headshot Annette recently joined IPFCC’s staff as the Health Care Program and Communications Specialist. A recent graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park with a B.S. in Public Health Science, she will be working on coordinating and hosting webinars, managing our social media accounts, and assisting with the production of these monthly Pinwheel Pages.
