IPFCC’s Upcoming Visit with RMHC in Portugal

Bev Johnson, IPFCC President and CEO, will be in Portugal with the Fundação Infantil Ronald McDonald in May. The Ronald McDonald House Charities chapter in Portugal is sponsoring its third country-wide Family-Centered Care Conference. Bev will be speaking on “Communicating with Families as Essential Care Partners” (Comunicar com as famílias: parceiros essenciais nos cuidados de saúde da crianç) and participating in hospital site visits in Porto and Lisbon.

Revised ACHI Community Health Assessment Toolkit

AHA's Community of Health Improvement has launched a revised toolkit that includes several supplements to help users involve different populations in the community health assessment process. Populations include caregivers, people with disabilities, older adults, and refugees and migrants. The significant change in this toolkit is that it emphasizes health equity. Community Engagement at Cancer Centers

This article recently published in CA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians, "Evolution of Community Outreach and Engagement at National Cancer Institute-Designated Cancer Centers, an Evolving Journey" was co-authored by Barry Nelson, a family leader serving on the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s Patient and Family Advisory Council. The article describes the history of five decades of community outreach. It includes recommendations for implementation in order to advance this approach and particularly to partner with historically marginalized communities. Read the article here.
