Free Webinar: PFACs in U.S. Children's Hospitals: Findings from a National Study  What factors contribute to the effectiveness of Patient and Family Advisory Councils (PFACs) in children’s hospitals? How did children’s hospital PFACs adapt during the COVID-19 pandemic? Join IPFCC for “PFACs in U.S. Children’s Hospitals: Findings from a National Study.” This webinar will highlight results from a national survey and interviews conducted by IPFCC to build a better understanding of PFAC implementation in children’s hospitals. Presenters from IPFCC will highlight key learnings about the prevalence and characteristics of PFACs in children’s hospitals and summarize how PFACs adapted and responded to the COVID-19. IPFCC Starting Two Projects on Family Presence

IPFCC is pleased to announce that we were selected for Eugene Washington PCORI Engagement Award funding for two projects to continue our work on family presence and participation during the COVID-19 pandemic. One project, led by Deborah Dokken, IPFCC Coordinator for Patient and Family Partnerships, will focus on building research partnerships in hospital settings and is titled, Learning from Experience: Exploring the Impact of Approaches to Family Presence in Hospitals During COVID-19. The second project, led by Bev Johnson, IPFCC President and CEO, will focus on developing research partnerships in long-term care and is titled, Building Capacity for Long-Term Care Stakeholders in COVID-Related PCOR/CER.

New Resources on Partnering in Mood Disorder Research

With funding support from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), IPFCC, in partnership with the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) recently completed the project, Amplifying the Peer Voice in Behavioral Health Research to Drive Transformation. The goal was to build a better understanding of peer priorities for mood disorders research and promote collaborative relationships between clinicians/researchers and peers (individuals with lived experience of mood disorders). Two Guidance documents are now available to inform conversations and collaborations between researchers, clinicians, peers, and mental health advocacy organizations as future mood disorders research is conceptualized and planned: Peer Priorities for Mood Disorders Research and Recommendations for Creating and Sustaining Meaningful Partnerships Between Researchers and Peers. Register today for 2021 PCORI Virtual Annual Meeting (November 17-19) Colleagues from across the healthcare community will gather at the 2021 PCORI Virtual Annual Meeting, which will be held November 17-19. Registration is free. The event will highlight results from PCORI-funded studies and explore how to advance patient-centered outcomes research and comparative clinical effectiveness research. Attendees will learn about PCORI’s efforts to disseminate study findings and engage communities in research, enjoy opportunities to network with others, and learn more about PCORI’s National Priorities for Health.
